When you download one of our tools, indicators, or trading bots— all of which are named NinjaScript AddOns— you will need to import the zip file into NinjaTrader.
This tutorial will guide you step by step through the process of importing, as well as how to remove specific AddOns from NinjaTrader. So let’s go straight to the point! Let’s get straight to the point!
Importing NinjaScript AddOns
Step 1: In the Control Center window, click on the “Tools” menu, then select “Import,” and finally choose “NinjaScript Add-On.
A browsing window will appear on the screen, allowing you to navigate to the folder where you saved the zip file of the Add-On you wish to import. Please note that you can only import one Add-On at a time.
Step 2: If the import process is successful, you’ll see the message box below.
It’s a good practice to restart NinjaTrader to avoid it loading a cached version of the Add-On, especially if you’re updating an existing one.
Sometimes, errors can occur during the import process. For more details on the issue, check the NinjaTrader log. Simply click on the “Log” tab in the Control Center window and review the most recent log messages.
That’s all about importing NinjaScript Add-Ons. If everything goes well, the process is straightforward. If you encounter any issues, it’s a good idea to take a screenshot of the errors and the log, and then send that information to the support team from where you downloaded the Add-On.
Removing NinjaScript AddOns
Step 1: In the Control Center window, click on the “Tools” menu, then select “Remove NinjaScript Assembly”.
Step 2: Select one or more NinjaScript Add-Ons to remove from your NinjaTrader and click on “Remove”.
Attention! Once you remove an Add-On, you won’t be able to revert NinjaTrader to its previous state. However, you can re-import the Add-Ons if you have the zip files.
Another important note: the selection highlight is very subtle!
Each time you try to remove a NinjaScript Add-On, you’ll see the following message window. This is simply a confirmation step to give you the opportunity to avoid any misselections.
If everything goes well, you’ll see the following confirmation message.
